Ex Soviet countries got different legacy from their parent the Big Soviet Union. To list some many Soviet armaments, some were lucky enough to get their hands on missiles and atomic stuff, then all the infrastructure etc etc.
And the compulsory army service is also the thing those countries have from Soviet Union. Like in good old times young boys of 18 and till 27 years old have to take their bodies to the army recruitment point and get their service for one year or more or.. get jailed or at least can’t get a job etc etc.

Air Board è un mezzo davvero interessante e sembra anche molto divertente da guidare, è stato subito ribattezzato “personal hovercraft” e il perché è presto detto: è un disco che scivola su un cuscinetto d’aria e lo si direziona come con il Segway. L’Air Board può scivolare a tutta velocità (beh, anche se non eccessiva, 15 miglia all’ora ossia 24km/h) su svariati terreni come asfalto, acqua, ciottolato, ecc… volando a 20 centimetri dal suolo. Ma è meglio non provare a guadare fiumi o affrontare dune del deserto altrimenti il sistema va in palla. L’autonomia è scarsa, si deve fare rifornimento dopo appena un’ora di svago.

Over 1 mn Mexicans involved in drug trade

Over one million Mexican people are involved in the illegal drug trade including “about 200,000″ women, according to Mexico police estimates. The president of an umbrella organisation of peasants, Jose Jacobo Femat, said Friday that the situation is “an alarming phenomenon” and, in the case of women, is the result of “gender inequality and the lack of opportunities to find legal employment”.
“It shows how mistaken the federal government’s public policies are for easing poverty in rural areas with its assistance programmes, since the female sector has seen the alternative to be taking part in growing drug crops and in drug production and distribution,” Femat said. He said this at the inauguration of the 2nd National Meeting of Women COCyP Leaders and his statements were based on the number of women arrested and prosecuted for such crimes in Mexico.
The states where women are most active in drug-trafficking are Chihuahua, Sonora and Durango in the northern part of the country, and in the southern state of Guerrero, where “there are entire towns living off this (illegal) economy”, added Femat.
On an average, people from rural Mexico involved in the drug trade earn between “5,000 and 10,000 pesos (between $384 and $770) per week”, the umbrella organisation said. The head of the National Farm Workers’ Union (UNTA) said Friday that some 600,000 daily-wage labourers have been lured by the drug cartels to grow Marijuana and poppy plants.
UNTA leader Alvaro Lopez announced this information at an event in Saltillo, the capital city of the northern state of Coahuila, the Mexican daily Reforma said Friday. Mexico has been plagued in recent years by drug-related violence with powerful cartels battering each other and the security forces amid a scramble for the control over smuggling and distribution of drugs.
The annual toll has risen from 1,500 people in 2006 to more than 6,000 in 2008. More than 5,600 people have died so far in 2009. Since assuming his charge in December 2006, President Felipe Calderon has deployed more than 50,000 soldiers and 20,000 federal police officials across Mexico in a bid to finish the cartels off, yet there has been no decrease in the number of gang wars so far.

Una badante romena aveva nascosto in una bella torta da lei confezionata i gioielli rubati in casa del suo assistito ma l’insolito nascondiglio è stato scoperto casualmente per la golosità del figlio dell’anziano che vedendo il dolce non ha resistito alla tentazione di tagliarne una fetta. Il fatto, raccontato sulle pagine della edizione umbra della Nazione, è avvenuto nei giorni scorsi a Sanfatucchio, un paese sulle rive del Lago Trasimeno.La badante si accingeva a tornare in Romania per fare visita ai parenti. Il dolce doveva essere un regalo per loro. Il figlio dell’ anziano assistito dalla donna rientrando in casa aveva aperto il frigorifero e vedendo quella bella torta ne aveva tagliata una fetta. Ha così scoperto che il “ripieno” del dolce era costituito da braccialetti, orecchini, collane ed altri gioielli. La badante – riferisce il quotidiano – non ha potuto negare la sua responsabilità ed è stata immediatamente licenziata.

Cani antidroga sballati, addestratori hanno dimenticato accanto a loro della cocaina

Due poliziotti della narcotici di Naples, in Florida, hanno scordato un pacchetto di cocaina accanto ai cani che avrebbero dovuto addestrare e questi, curiosi come faine, hanno fatto quello che avrebbe fatto un qualsiasi quattro zampe che si rispetti: hanno distrutto l’involucro e hanno ficcato il naso proprio dove non dovevano. Il risultato? Quando gli agenti sono tornati hanno trovato i poveri animali iper eccitati.Dimenticano la droga accanto ai cani – Stando a quanto riportato dai quotidiani locali i due poliziotti avrebbero perso l’involucro degli stupefacenti, una bustina con pochi grammi di cocaina, mentre si trovavano in missione. Dopo aver ricevuto una chiamata d’emergenza hanno lasciato i colleghi a 4 zampe in una stanza d’albergo e si sono recati sul luogo dell’appuntamento.I due quattro zampe erano sballati e “felici” – Quando son tornati hanno notato gli animali insolitamente “pieni d’energia”, e la camera completamente distrutta. Gli investigatori non verranno comunque puniti per ciò che i loro supervisori hanno definito un “onesto errore”. I cani stanno bene e dopo qualche giorno di riposo sono stati riammessi al servizio.
